Hello

I've had the opportunity to get to know a number of neighbors and families across the school district, but there are many that I have not yet had the good fortune to meet yet. Below are a few paragraphs to tell you a little about myself.

My Story

I was raised in southern Vermont and attended Elementary, Middle and High School in the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union (now the Brattleboro School District). I’m a proud graduate and a long time supporter of our public school system.

After earning my PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Clarkson University, I was hired as a Professor. For 4 years, I taught a variety of undergraduate classes, mentored graduate students and advised extra-curricular clubs. In 2005, I returned to Vermont and took a position in the Research and Development department at BioTek Instruments in Winooski. In my role at BioTek, I managed a small group that collaborated to design, test, and manufacture biomedical testing equipment.. In that role, I learned how to bring together a diverse group of people to solve complex problems. At that time, I was also an active volunteer with our children’s community pre-school.

In 2012, my family and I moved to Cornwall and I elected to stay at home with our young children. In the past 10 years my children have both graduated from Cornwall Elementary school and are currently attending MUMS and MUHS. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to spend time with children in our community during field trips, taught experiential science classes via the Four Winds program, organized and supported many school-based activities (including planting, maintaining and harvesting crops in the school garden), and helped teach numerous kids how to ride bicycles. I have also helped create new outdoor play spaces  and constructed multiple standing tables to help teachers create flexible and supportive learning environments.

In addition to the time I’ve spent volunteering within the school district, I’ve also served on the Addison County Bike Club Board of Directors and the Middlebury Ski Club Board of Directors. These organizations help maintain many of our local trails and their programs help kids to develop a life-long love of outdoor activities.
